At Pay It Fur-Ward, our work begins with one purpose: protecting animals and giving them the opportunity to live safe, healthy, and loved lives.

Our initiatives are centered primarily on animal rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, veterinary support, adoption, and preventing animals from falling through the cracks when their families are experiencing crisis. We believe every animal deserves compassionate care, responsible advocacy, and the chance for a better future.

While animal rescue is at the heart of what we do, we also recognize that sometimes the best way to protect an animal is to help the person who loves them. When safe and appropriate, we work to prevent unnecessary surrender and preserve the bond between pets and their families.

Animal Rescue and Adoption

Rescue is at the core of Pay It Fur-Ward.

When an animal can no longer safely remain in their current situation, we work to provide a responsible path forward through rescue placement, foster care, veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, and adoption.

Every animal who enters our care is treated as an individual. We take time to understand their medical needs, behavior, personality, history, and emotional well-being so we can make decisions that support their long-term success.

Our goal is not simply to move animals through the system. It is to give them the care, stability, and time they need to heal before finding a safe and appropriate permanent home.

Adoption is about creating lasting matches. We work to connect animals with families who understand their needs and are prepared to provide the commitment, patience, and love they deserve.

Foster Care and Rehabilitation

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of animal rescue.

They provide animals with a safe, home-based environment where they can decompress, recover, learn, and receive individualized attention while preparing for their next step.

Pay It Fur-Ward utilizes foster care for animals awaiting adoption, animals recovering from illness or injury, young animals requiring additional care, and animals who may need time to rebuild confidence or learn how to safely live in a home environment.

Through compassionate foster care, veterinary support, enrichment, behavior monitoring, and rehabilitation, we work to give every animal the strongest possible foundation for a successful future.

Temporary Foster and Family Reunification

Not every animal in need of temporary care needs a new family.

Sometimes a loving owner is facing homelessness, hospitalization, treatment, domestic crisis, financial hardship, or another temporary circumstance that makes caring for their pet difficult or impossible.

Our temporary foster program provides animals with a safe place to stay while their owners work toward stability.

Whenever it is safe and appropriate, reunification remains the goal. Preventing an unnecessary surrender can keep an animal out of an already overwhelmed rescue system while preserving an important family bond.

A temporary crisis should not automatically become a permanent goodbye.

Veterinary and Emergency Animal Care

Medical care can be the difference between suffering and recovery, and veterinary needs are an important part of responsible rescue.

Pay It Fur-Ward works with veterinary professionals and community partners to help animals receive appropriate preventive care, diagnostics, treatment, emergency intervention, and follow-up support.

Animals in our rescue may require anything from routine vaccinations and spay or neuter services to extensive treatment, rehabilitation, or ongoing medical management.

When resources allow, we may also assist pet owners experiencing hardship with veterinary coordination and emergency support when doing so can prevent unnecessary suffering or surrender.

Our goal is always to advocate for the animal's health, comfort, safety, and quality of life.

Supporting Pets During Human Crisis

Animals can become vulnerable very quickly when the people caring for them lose housing, income, transportation, or access to basic resources.

Pay It Fur-Ward provides pet-focused support to individuals and families experiencing hardship, including those who are unhoused.

Depending on available resources, assistance may include pet food, supplies, veterinary care coordination, transportation, temporary foster placement, and connections to community resources.

This work is an important part of animal rescue prevention. By addressing a crisis before an animal becomes homeless, surrendered, neglected, or medically compromised, we can often keep pets safe while reducing pressure on shelters and rescue organizations.

Responsible Rescue and Placement

Every decision we make must put the welfare of the animal first.

When reunification is not possible, an owner is no longer able to provide appropriate care, or an animal needs permanent intervention, we work toward the safest and most responsible outcome available.

This may include foster placement, veterinary treatment, behavioral support, rehabilitation, transfer to an appropriate rescue partner, or adoption through Pay It Fur-Ward.

We believe responsible rescue means looking beyond the immediate situation and making decisions with an animal's long-term health, safety, and quality of life in mind.

Creating Second Chances Together

Every animal deserves safety, care, advocacy, and the opportunity for a better life.

Through rescue, foster care, rehabilitation, veterinary support, adoption, reunification, and crisis assistance, Pay It Fur-Ward is working to create more second chances for animals throughout our community.

Sometimes that second chance means finding a new family. Sometimes it means healing in a foster home. Sometimes it means receiving lifesaving veterinary care. And sometimes it means helping an animal remain safely with the family who already loves them.
